Accident in a company vehicle question.
Does anyone know know if you have a accident (knocked someones wing mirror) in a company vehicle & it goes through company insurance whether you have to declare it on your personal insurance? & If you do what effect does it have? Loss of personal NCB?
I wasn't sure who owned the van so I put a little post it note on his mirror with my phone number on it & was just gonna give him the dosh thinking it was gonna be £20ish, but it comes to £90. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Accident in a company vehicle question.
technicaly you have to tell your own insurance, not lost of your NCB

Re: Accident in a company vehicle question.
I think as it is covered on the companys insurance and not your own personnel insurance it doesn't count against you.:)

Re: Accident in a company vehicle question.
Cheers, these are the kind of answers I like to hear :D
I hoped this would be the case as I haven't had any claims on my fleet insurance in 5 years but it hasn't gone towards my personal NCB however I thought it would be sods law it wouldn't work the other way round but this sounds promising. :D |
Re: Accident in a company vehicle question.
it does not count as a claim but does count as an accident, deoends in the wording of your poilcys questions at renewal time

Re: Accident in a company vehicle question.
It depends, £90 is not worth going through insurance for because of the excess involved, so no need to tell anyone. But if you did claim through the insurance then yes you have to declare it as an accident regardless of who's insurance it is.
I know this because I had a similar claim 6 months ago. |
Re: Accident in a company vehicle question.
whilst it does not affect your personal NCB, it does count as an accident against you.
therefore every proposal you fill in you have to declare it, it increases your personal risk and therefore your premium will rise. for £90 I would pay it, not put it through company insurance and it keeps your insurance sweet, your boss/company non the wiser etc. Well done for being honest enough to leave the note that you have clipped his mirror. |
