Fork springs.
Just ordered the K-tech 85N springs and some new 10W.
Will hopefully get these fitted soon. Might ask Saltire in Edinburger to do it for me. Anyone got any experience of life after upgrading the Suzi cheese composite springs? Cheers |
Re: Fork springs.
It'll be an improvement but not as much as you'd think. Worth doing but with .85 springs I'd have thought you'd want 15W oil. Are you lardy or skinny?
You might want to think about upgrading the shock too. |
Re: Fork springs.
Bit light, 10.5 st.
Race tech calculator recommended around 82N |
Re: Fork springs.
Ordered some Hagon progressive springs with oil yesterday. £67.50 delivered, should be here tomorrow.

Re: Fork springs.
I have the 85 k-tech springs in my curvey and used 10W Motul and it's fine. Try it and see, the springs are the worst part of the system for most normal bodied riders.

Do they make a difference? HELL YEAH! Previously my stock springs/oil would bounce around all over the place. I do a lot of M-way miles (as Mike could tell from my flat rear tyre profile) but also a lot of town centre miles too. In (Manchester) town centre, there's more humps and bumps than camels in valleys and the stock springs let you know about every single one of them, bouncing and clunking their way along. On country road and M-way miles they'd also throw the front up a bit with the slightest dodgy surface when going faster around bends. With the new springs/oil, you still feel the potholes etc, but they're not as pronounced, it's a smoother transition up and down and there's definitely no clunking. On the faster bends, the front end settles quicker (especially after braking) and if you do get an uneven surface, the front copes miles better without the massive variance that the stock setup had. Again, another cheap'ish mod for the bike that makes quite a bit of difference (more than I was expecting). |
