Cleaning, how far do you take it?
I started with the downpipe, which led to doing the engine (de-tar'ing), am about to do the forks, and now I've noticed the dog bone region is extremely oily, am tempted to clean of all the excess, or am I just being anul now?
How clean is clean everyone? |

Does he mean me?
Put lots of acf50 on to stop it rusting and then dont clean it too much or the salt will eat it. ACF50 looks grimy but it does a wonderful job. |

And in serious note, any cleaning not related to mechanical servicing is too much.
That oil all over the dogbones and linkage is good to stop road spray washing the grease out of your bearings. Leave it be. Allow the wonders of inertia and scottoiler technology to add to it... |

Lol, mighty good point that!

Only valid if there is actually any grease in them, it's not fitted as standard.

Some say his blood is pure WD40, that he cleans his teeth with Autosol and if he were to stare at the sun and open his mouth he can reflect rays of light around the world .......we just know him as the guru of cleaning.....Kwak ZZR
EDIT - On a serious note now that Im not commuting I am intending to have the wheels off and clean everywhere. I have even been known in the past to strip all the plastics off the front and rear and give it a good scrub everywhere. But as YC said, providing the rear linkages have been greased would leave well alone. I work on the principal that if it isn't mechanical, and is made of metal, I polish it. |

I love polishing my bikes:cheers:
But, the stuff that should have grease, has grease. Dogbones is toooooo far, whats the point in that? Haha I love that pic of YC watching the jet wash. :confused:What is this thing called cleaning, its a very strange activity http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...27699_3886.jpg |
