Some racing coming up...Anglesey 22nd march

Eh up, the season is starting again in a few weeks.

I'll be racing with Wirral 100 at Anglesey on 22nd March, only a few weeks away.

If you fancy it, pop along and say hello. Loads of racing on throughout the day, including a small but growing field of minitwins.

Going to be doing my 1st season this year, but with Preston & District I think. Might do Tonfanau, but will have to see what funds are like. Have a good season Flymo, might catch up with you at one of the meetings

Good on you, you'll love it. Tonfanau is a bit of an experience though :-) They clear the sheep sh*t up to race bikes on an old tarmac road. The 'paddock' is literally that, all grass. Its about as basic as it gets!

You racing an SV or your FZR400?

Went to Tonfanau with my lads last season, it opened my eyes I have to say.

I am in 2 minds what to race atm. I have the Fzr, but I'm off to look at a CBR 600 Steelie tomorrow that needs a bit of work, so I dont know yet :)

Why wouldnt you ride a race bike you already own? To be honest, in either the Formula 400 class or the 600 steelie, especially the Supersports.....you really dont stand much of a chance of being too competetive without spending alot of money.

One of the reasons I swapped from my FZR400 was for that reasom, although it was a fairly old one that I was racing in the forgotten era. Lots of fun though.

You not thought of minitwins on an SV?

Steel frame people are a mint bunch, have a lot to do with them through my sons, so really do want to play with that lot. I don't mind not being up at the front this season I just want to get used to the bike & find where my limits are. One of the Steelie lads finished 3rd at 3 Sisters last season on a bog standard CBR, so it is down to the rider & not really down to the depth of your pockets.
I will be honest & say that if my budget was any tighter it would squeek, so finding nearly £2k for a bike, then all the bits & pieces that go with it are way out of my limits.
The FZR is race tuned, I have WOWs, loads of sprockets & spares for the grand sum of £450

The steelie I have just bought was low sided at Anglesey, he started to take it to bits, separated from his missus & cant afford to keep it. WOWs spare cans, bars etc, Again total cost of £500.
Its what I like to call budget racing on a budget
