Re: Renntec rack !!!

no need to modify them to take more weight. I think the 2.5 kilo thing is a disclaimer to be fair. I've had a 7'5 kilo tent on the back, sleeping bags and god knows what else on there. I just don't advise swinging on it, or indeed trying to lift the back end of your bike by it, as it flexes a lot in this case.
People have been usuing rentec racks for years with far more weight on them than a bag of sugar

Re: Renntec rack !!!

the metal it bolts onto is the subframe, if it''ll hold your passengers backside up, it'll hold that rack on ;-)

Re: Renntec rack !!!

I beefed up the renntec on my thou sv. I welded custom bars onto mine, which run down the bottom rear seat cowl, and bolt onto the rear foot pegs. I thought as standard the renntec rack was too flexy (although it took a load of gear), and one day I came home, and made up strengthener bars. Now you can lift the entire back of the bike up using the rack, and it will take even more weight. It doesn't look out of place either.

I'll add some pics when I charge up the camera.

Yes it flexes. But yes I can lift the bike by it.

Fantastic buy for touring. Though I am tempted to weld some more to it to increase its capacity further...
