chain adjustment on paddock stand

Hiya all,

I know that normally you're meant to adjust the chain with the bike on its sidestand, but I came across this video on adjusting the chain;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_LORf8juUQ

Basically it says with the bike on a paddock stand you measure the difference with the chain fully pulled down then pushed up toward the swingarm and use that as your measurement.

Just to ask if anyone's tried this? It'd make chain adjustment a bit easier as you wouldn't need to keep moving the bike on/off the stand to adjust/lube etc...

Cheers all :D

Hmmm, so he adjusts the tension with the chain side wheel adjuster, then he matches the markers up with the other side and checks alignment. But he doesn't go back and check the tension again, which invariably has now changed.

It doens't make sense. Why check the distance the chain moves when the swingarm isn't in it's proper place.

I'm sure you can do it on a paddock stand, but check it without.
