A process for processes
At work, we've been living in a pretty fluid state, methodolgies/approaches to various things change on a daily basis, and if you miss the email, or forget, then it's disciplinary time.
I can cope with that, just about, but it was starting to do my head in. This morning, I received new information that's not only going to improve my working life, and also gave me a good laugh this morning. Essentially, the below: http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...sc/process.jpg Yup, that's a process detailling how processes are made. I'm sorry, WTF? I'm all for a regimented approach to issues, but this takes the biscuit! Yes, by the way, I have noticed several inaccuracies in the document, so I've refused to sign the Training Template until amendments are made. :D And I've taken the mick out of my manager for not telling the Ops manager to go forth & multiply when this was discussed in meetings. :) Those that work in IT/management may see the funny side of this too, so thought I'd share. :) |
Re: A process for processes
IT or not......that's absolutely hilarious.......seriously........senior managers have more important things to do with their time than have these shoved in their in tray. I'd send it back with a big fat WASTE OF MY TIME stamp on it.

Re: A process for processes
We had a union meeting once, where a vote was taken on whether we should vote on an issue....
It was in the Civil Service Club, so the guy was lucky I hadn't taken a sip of my pint, he'd have been wearing it! |

I've just sent a slightly altered version of this to my manager, basically suggesting that the Process-Process be amended to include a vote from all middle management in order for any process to be established. Thing is, they'll need a meeting to decide if they have a vote on making a new process, about the new process to make processes. Under the new process-process unveiled today, they're now obliged to have a meeting based on my suggestion, because I put it in writing. :D Oh how I love red tape (when it doesn't affect me!). :D |

Re: A process for processes
Does the process to define a process still work when measured against itself?
