Re: Sat Nav advice
Hahahahaha!
When me and an ex took our then Land Rover 90 up to Yorkshire for a holiday, we followed the sat nav taking us back to the cottage after a day out. It took us to a place called Crackpot Caves or Crackpot pass. WOW. We got to an open gate that looked like any other entrance to dales/moors that you regularly go through up there and so thought nothign of it. That road ended up being a track, but we had 3-4 daylight hours left so thought we'd have a bit of fun as it was listed as a legal byway for us to drive. We ended up going up a hill that was made of stone steps, each almost a foot high in some places (off roading call these steps), we went through some of the trickiest technical off road terrain that I have ever encountered, but couldn't turn back as no where to turn around and hill too steep to be reversing on our own. Thought we'd just carry on. We eventually got to the top and onto the pennine way ( i think?) and it took us over 5 hours to get back to a road. We saw a man resembling the Grim Reaper up there all on his own in a long black cloak, hood up. Land rover 90 coming up behind him and didn't turn to look. When we passed, I look at him and couldn't see a face under the hood.......... SCARY!!!!:reaper: Got to love Sat Navs sometimes!!! |

I remember there being a thing on the national news about foreign lorry drivers getting in trouble with the bosses for being late on deliveries and they cited the sat navs taking them to Crackpot and the ensuing struggle to get their massive lorries back out of the narrow lanes for the cause in delay. What got the blame??? The sat nav. What was at fault??? The stupid drivers for not reading road signs or using a little common sense. For me and the ex it was just a nice little (long) adventure to stumble upon! |
