My Bike Lacks Oomph...

While coming home this evening in the "daylight", coming across a clear blackfriars bridge and straight green lights down to the Elephant & Castle - Lovely.

Then getting caught at the lights, I had a 600RR, ER-6, FireBlade and CG-125 and all of them pulled away from me, until I got up into 2/3 and overtook the 125 - but the other 3 were just pulling, pulling, pulling away. I'll discount the FireBlade, but the other 2 - I thought the SV might have been able to keep up.

No.

The SV seems to only come good while pushing over 40, which around London does not allow much.

Unhappy now...:(

did you release the brakes :-), sounds like you need to give it the berries. You'ld have a pretty decent chance of taking a CBR off the line at the right revs, not for long though.

How much do you weigh? Are you sure you used full throttle? Did you change gear at the best place? An ER-6 shouldnt pull away at all!

A fireblade will obviously and a SS600 will as well, but that should only be when it gets into the revs which isnt till its doing about 40mph. Before that you should be a little quicker due to gearing!

Sure its not restricted? :(

of course any ss6 will pull away from an sv, but not to that extent! if you were giving it full beans they shouldnt av blasted off into the distance so quickly....the sv is quite a capable machine in the right hands

all i can suggest is wots already been mentioned......you sure it aint restricted? (due to the 125 being a contender)

125's shouldn't get away from a restricted SV either...

Are you real, have you been on a modern 600. A 600rr pulls considerably harder than an sv from the word go, qualified to say so.......having had both.

The illusion that an ss600 has no low down grunt is very amusing.

You should have nailed the CG and kept with the ER6

A SV650 in 1st gear will have more pull to about 40mph :) Its all to do with gearing... Not power.

flymo, lol - yes the brakes was off, and TheGr33k: I weight 14 stone.

Ok granted I was a little aprehensive of giving it full beans, but it only seems to want it from 3rd onwards - plus the groan from the engine over 6K is a little loud.

I do have doubts that it might be restricted still, just can't afford to take it to a garage and fork out £200 for a check-up, just to be sure.
