how do your forks feel?
I had a bump with a car yesterday, not hard but enough to brake the front fender.
now, i dont know if its just me, but when i push on the forks, vigorously, i feel a bump of some kind as they go down. but when i push gently, they are smooth. any of you guys have the same problem? is this bump a cause for concern? |
Re: how do your forks feel?
a bump? springs compressing maybe? could be your head stock knocking possibly?

can you explain more about the "bump"

Re: how do your forks feel?
as it compresses, it feels like theres something in the way. it still compresses fine, it doesnt feel stiff or suddenly stops. its like a knocking sound. best way i can describe it. i'll pop into my local bike shop during the weekend, and have a feel for their SV's

Re: how do your forks feel?
Sure its not the pads / disks moving? If you squeeze your front brake and push down they all have a clunk.

Re: how do your forks feel?
its an sv they all have a clunk in suspention :D your be ok, did you stay on the bike? if it wasnt hard enough to knock you off i would imagine it would be ok

Re: how do your forks feel?
Holding the front brake means you'll get the clunk from the discs. To rule this out, push down your forks with the front wheel up against a wall/high kerb etc., oh, and don't hold that brake lever this time!
If you stil get a clunk, it's time to get the bike checked out by someone with a bit more mechanical experience*. Could be your head bearings. * Needn't be a garage, just another biker mate, to save you a bit of cash and get a 2nd opinion. |
Re: how do your forks feel?
