A classic and only 30 years old.

Someone reminded me of a record (yes the vinyl things) that I remember coming out and buying back in 78-79, still as popular as ever despite being extraordinarily crucified in 2005 by some hollywood film remake ( prefered the 1950's movie by George Pal).

Jeff Wayne's War of the worlds

And I still have that very record too.

Cheers Mark.

We watched that. Got the hairs on my neck rising at times :D Some of the artists off the album I believe. Well worth a watch.

We ordered our CD especially because we couldn't get it locally. Before we used Ebay to buy stuff like that.

I think Lissa has it on her phone so that she can listen to it at work.:smt020

I have still got the Double CD from the 80's (you know when double cd cases were actually about an inch think) of the War of the Worlds. The first track is a bit too Disco for me but the rest of the album is a stunning piece of music.

Please whilst iconic, the best must be

"Moving swiftly through the waters,
Cannons blazing as she came,
Sent a mighty metal warlord,
CRASHING down in sheets of flame,
Sensing victory was nearing,
Thinking fortune must have smiled,
People started cheering,
'Come on Thunderchild!' "

Cheers Mark.

that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.

Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.

Ba, ba, Baaaaaa
