Which yellow is my bike?

yr 2000 W reg sv650 y, which yellow will it be? I know there are two curvy yellows but I have now idea which mine is. I dont fancy taking the tank off just out of curiosity so if anyone knows I'd appreciate it.

I had the same problem.
mines a 2001 (Y) and service book states pearl lively yellow, and says the same under the tank.
BUT the seat cowl i bought which was PLY didnt match, and neither do my lowers (you can just see in my avatar).

think mine must be canyon even though wrong year for that colour (unless it has a nasty history and is some sort of post write off frankenstein!)

What you'll find is that it probably is pearl lively yellow, but as your paint is a nice mica pearl jobby, it fades errr too well, so when you get a new colour coded item, it doesn't match. My cowl was the correct colour (from a member on here) but it was never used, and the tone of colour diffference was dramatic, as was the Roca belly pan. Plenty of Tcut later(for metallic paint) its a few shades nearer, and not as noticeable.
I also bought some new fairings a couple of weeks ago, and had the same problem but not as bad, a definate difference....thing is the tank doesn't fade as fast for some reason, over time my original fairings looked different shade to tank......hey now they don't!!! ;-) :-)

You don't have to take the tank off, just remove the 2 hex head screws at the front of the tank and it will hinge up on it's rear mounting, you should have a small prop stick under the pillion seat to support it, and then you can clearly see the sticker under the tank with the colour code on, just check it against Dizzy's code's listed above and you've cracked it................:D

problem is, the pyramid seat cowl i bought originally (a1 condition and for sale if anyone interested) is what i'd call 'custard', and was like yours John, but the cowl and lowers i have are really pale, which is how people describe pearl lively, but the rest of my bike seems somewhere between the two:confused:

I get what you mean Dizzy, but they seem further apart than just new versus faded.

I'll get out to squires or a rideout soon and you'll see what i mean.

Maybe i should just go buy a new bike!
