Hesitation when opening throttle.
ok on my 1999 curvy tonight while running down the m way at a steady 70 it feels hesitent for a second then picks up again. if im doing some then it doesnt seam to happen. Also it happened a little while comming off the slip road.
i had something similar on the hardy bikers run and it was a bit foggy so im wondering where to start looking? |
Re: hesitation
what was weather like?
|
Re: hesitation
slightly chilly/foggy
|
Re: hesitation
tank nearing empty? could be some rubbish from the bottom of the tank being pulled through the carbs.
|
Re: hesitation
Carb icing.

Re: Hesitation when opening throttle.
When did you last get the carbs balanced?

Re: Hesitation when opening throttle.
I've had a similar thing on my curvy, always when i've been tootling along on part throttle with little load on the engine, especially in the cooler damper weather at the end of winter/start of spring. Didn't seem to matter whether I had a full, part or nearly empty tank but was worse every time I put in normal unleaded as opposed to super. Open the throttle and it was almost like it was struggling to pull in enough juice then would kick in. I put a dose of Wynn's Dry Fuel through a couple of tanks of fuel and had the carbs off and gave them a good blast out with cleaner and it seems to have done the trick
ps - if you need a hand to balance carb's as well give me a shout. i've got a set of gauges here |
Re: Hesitation when opening throttle.
Was the choke fully off, or is the choke cable sticky and holding it slightly on ?.

Re: Hesitation when opening throttle.
well its run on super unleaded so i hoped carb icing wouldnt be a problem. its only on consistant runs though.
choke appears to be fine. not had the carbs balanced since september tho. |
