chain and sprokets question

My chain was really loose i could pull it off the back sproket with just my hand. so i brought it back to the dealer ship since i bought it only 3 months ago. after a big argument with the sales manager he agreed to pay to replace the chain free of cost since the sprokets are apparently in good condition, and the chain was just unlubed and rusty. My question however is should i buy sprokets even if the mechanics said that it was in good condition? and if so how much would i be looking at spending? thanks in advance. :D

Re: chain and sprokets question

Change them all at once. Your front sprocket will almost certainly be goosed as it has far less teeth than the back sprocket. Your chain is slack because of wear which has lengthened the pitch and this then takes the sprockets out with it as they no longer mesh together correctly. How many miles did you do in 3 months?

Have you been lubing the chain since you bought it?

Exactly right Kurtis. My guess is the bike had a goosed chain and sprockets on it and had just been tightened up prior to sale. That's why we need to know how many miles in 3 months? I don't get why they won't replace all 3 as the sprockets are peanuts compared to the chain.
