Fuel Cap - Help
Tried a search but can't find what I'm after.
Basically the last few times I've went to fill up my curvy ('99) I've had trouble opening the fuel cap. Wnet out today thinking it probably just needed some lubrication, only way I could open it was to turn the key and then prise slightly with a screwdriver. I've now taken the lock apart and everything seems OK, nothing particularly worn. Everything also works smoothly but just seems like the lock part wont slide back in enough when you turn the key. I can move it in no bother by hand when it's open. The two pins inside seem to turn fine but don't catch the sliding lock part properly. Anyone any ideas how to fix? Looking to get it done ASAP as I need to fill up and don't want to have to take a screwdriver to the garage with me. Any help/advice is much appreciated. |
Re: Fuel Cap - Help
if tang is moving in all the way when you turn key check lip on tank where it catches if bent.

Re: Fuel Cap - Help
This was a strange one. I took everything apart again and there was a tiny spring and ball bearing that had came dislodged from somewhere. took them out, cleaned everything again and put it all back together again and now works fine. Seems pretty strange, but at least I can get petrol now! :)
