Sport Panniers & Paint Wear

I'm doing a short (1k miles) tour of europe in a few weeks with a pillion. So, tank bag, back pack and sport saddle backs for the luggage.

I'm worried that the saddle bags will wear the through the paint on the rear fairing.

Did a quick search which showed the org's favored solution is gaffer tape, but has anyone ever used this sort of stuff: http://www.showtrax.net/ventureshield.html ?

Ta.

I know someone at an old place of work that had this on his car and it stopped paint chips and the like from stones so I guess it should work well. It's quite tough tbh.

Just buy a roll of that grippy rubber. I used that after panniers took the paint off on a single 150 mile journey.

+1

Just used some under my panniers on a 2200 mile trip through France. Not a mark on the paintwork. I got a big sheet of the stuff from the car section in my local tescos
