Carb heater wire broken.
 

Currently got the motorbike stripped out with the carbs out also. Looking under the carbs the two heating wires to each one, one is broken off the brass nipple that looks like goes into a 10mm nut? Is this for heating? And any remedy to fix?

Also the bike seems very rough at idle as well as riding, i.e. coughing spluttering and riding with choke semi on to keep it running. Just checked the carbs, there spotless... Anything else I should look for? Or could it be due to me being a silly man and drilling a couple of holes into the baffle for "so called better" sounds when first got it.... causing a loss in back pressure? :/
Any help much needed as at a dead end now..

Just discovered some other issues whether they are...
Air box seems full of oil, sopping wet, so drained that and cleaned it out. Should it be so bad if any?

Also front HT lead not sitting on plug at all, very loose. Ideal place to purchase these from or make one up?

Front HT lead issue will cause the running problems. Could also have damaged coil.
I remember hearing of a similar fitment that also makes a better seal with the cylinder head curing the wet issue, cant remember what fitting it is though.

Oil in airbox. Have you overfilled it? Oil can clog carb passageways up, it's too viscous to get sucked through some of the smaller ones. Clean the carbs in a load of petrol.

right will get that ht lead swapped, had a slight feeling could be causing me some mishaps..
Filled it to half way the oil on the indicator, however maybe have been too generous when did it, as there is in fact oil in some pipes to the point the catch box underneath the air box looks like its full of oil in there :|

Check the oil carefully. If in doubt balance a spirit level on the tank filler and get someone else to look.

Was a year ago, but I think I did it on sidestand when first got the bike so probably thats the problem then :/
Luckily purchased a upright stand now thankfully so will be sorting oil out before its started

if you check the oil level on the side stand then you have got WAY TOO MUCH in...
get someone to sit on the bike or hold it upright off the sidestand holding the front brake lever (so it doesn't move) for a true reading...

Your supposed to run the bike for a bit , switch it off , come back 3 minutes later , sit the bike up in the vertical position with both wheels on the floor (no paddock stands or anything) and then check the oil level . If you filled it up when it was on it`s side stand and cold it will be crammed to the hilt with Oil .

ahhh my own fault then for that. Nice little cleaning job on the cards then..
Just need to figure out where to purchase a new car heating plug from now... if that is the correct name for such a item.
