Back brake clicking
When I push my back brake the lever clicks after a short bit of travel, it's a very noticeable click.
Doesn't seem to effect braking performance and the bike has just gone through the MOT with no problem. Anything I should be worried about? I meant to ask the MOT guy but completely slipped my mind. |
Re: Back brake clicking
could it be the switch clicking on to activate the brake lights, the front brake lever does this too.

I think I have the same problem on my bike. When you say "click" do you mean an audible click sound or a notchy "giving way" type feeling with no associated sound? My rear pedal seems to give way after some initial force is applied with no "click" sound. My brake performance is not affected and the bike has just gone throught MOT too. I will be investigating my problem tonight, let me know if yours is the same as I have described. |
Re: Back brake clicking
The pivot is dry and/or the clevis pin/pushrod eye has a flat/oval worn on/in it.
Just like everyone else's does - clean and grease it, it will be fine for a long time yet. |
Re: Back brake clicking
i had the saem where it clicked before pushing through on the lever. Turned out the footpeg was loose and just needed tightening via allen key on the heelplate side

Re: Back brake clicking
Yea,
I suspect either the footpeg is loose or the mounting hole is oval, but I'll check it my case. |
Re: Back brake clicking
I had this for a wee while. Put the bike in for an MOT and the garage repoprted a loose footpeg (but fixed it for free - - phew).
My bet is that !!! |
Re: Back brake clicking
Funny thing is my bike is doing the same, will tighten the footpeg as per recommendation.
