You can get a two piece leather suit for £300.
Have a look at the Teknic stuff. IIRC it was around that price when I was looking last year. Just go to a bike shop and try a load of stuff on.

But I use my bike everyday and a 1 piece doesn't seem very practicle.

Falls apart...
Waterproof stuff not waterproof....
zips are rubbish....

Take a look in Heine Gericke, earlier this year they had leather trousers free with a jacket - giving a suit for as little as £165!! They often have offers on textiles to.

My Spada textile jacket and trousers were less than £300 and are very good, weterproof and warm. I have crashed in another Spada jacket and it performed well - I still use it on my DRZ!

However, if I were you, I would go for leather now for the summer. If you can afford it, get textiles for the winter. If you cannot afford textiles in the winter, get some good thermals to go under your leathers and a rainsuit to go over your leathers. Works very well.

PS My two piece HG leathers cost £300 seven years ago and are still going strong, despite being crashed in.

*I have only crashed twice in 12 years, despite how it seems above! :(

I would get myeslf a textile jacket and leather trousers. I still think this is the best combination. Youd be hard pressed to find better value than Hein Gericke stuff. You could get a jacket and torusers for £300 no worries, and proabbly a pair of gloves in there as well.

Witht eh textile.leather combo, you only have to carry water proof trousers if it rains.

As for Frank Thomas stuff. I have a frank Thomas jacket that i bought form Carnells in Purley (Shows how long ago that was) and its somewhere near 2-3 years old and is still water proof, and the zips are fine. I do knwo that epople have hassle with stuff, but its like anything, i am sure you can find as many people with good gear as well as bad.

My two piece leathers were from Heine Gericke. My current textiles I bought from Woods motorcycles in Abergele, although you can get Spada kit almost anywhere.

I have a Spada Circuit jacket (linky) and Spada Podium pants (linky). As you can see, well within your budget.
