Best way to carry luggage?
Ok i got a pointy SV but rear seat is still on, i just want the cheapest way to carry a big camping bag on the back? Would just tying with prehaps bungy's and rope do the job and then just stick a couple of bin bags over to keep the water out be my best bet? or do i need to go mad and invest in luggage carrying stuff?

Re: Best way to carry luggage?
I use a largeish walking type rucksack, which has a built in waterproof cover.
I strap this on the rear seat using ratchet straps, as in the photo below. Just don't ratchet them up too tight and crack your fairings! |
Re: Best way to carry luggage?
Remember to use rubber matting under the luggage/bungys to protect your paintwork

Re: Best way to carry luggage?
Get a couple of these they are lifesavers
They work a treat, use them all the time, can double them up if the luggage is large |

Do you reckon these are pretty similair to Rachet Straps and would do a similair job? |
Re: Best way to carry luggage?
Think they're closer to a bungee than a ratchet strap, but would do a decent job...but may as well use bungees!

what exactley on here should i order? cheers. |
Re: Best way to carry luggage?
I usually wear a rucksack and a bag bunged to the back seat. The rucksack isnt bad to wear either strapped round the middle keeps the weight off my shoulders

Re: Best way to carry luggage?
I don't tend to use ratchet straps, only for heavy goods transport in vans! I'd go for a cargo net and bungees, can secure fairly heavy luggage to be honest. Unless its very very heavy, like a dead pillion...then ratchets would be useful
