jack up kit
hi all,
has anyone here done the jack up mod on the rear suspension? Do you recommend as a good mod and has it improved the bikes handling ? cheers darren |
Re: jack up kit
Yarp - see http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=130240&page=2 for my thoughts. I crashed it the day after but that's me being sh*t - nothing to do with the bike!

Cant honestly say it made a noticeable difference. My main goal was to make the seat hight greater. |
Re: jack up kit
i take it you mean changing the dog bones. if so i did it to my bike. when you enter a corner it dives a little bit more and makes the rear end higher i like it more then standed dog bones

Re: jack up kit
A couple of points to make....
Cheap parts mean cheap metal - do you really want to risk your shock suddenly only being attached at one end? Also Mr Suzuki determined that the optimum angle for the forks should be as it is with the standard length dog-bones, and changing that WILL affect the handling. If you NEED to change the dogbones because of your height, you are probably going to also drop the yokes down the forks a bit and so balance this a bit. But to unbalance the bike for cosmetics, well maybe that's worth a second thought...... |
Re: jack up kit
Also increasing the swingarm angle means increasing the slack in the chain.
And making the shock effectively a little bit softer as it's a rising rate linkage, so check your preload again when you've adjusted the ride height. |
