cold tryers

Ok my commute is about 5 miles each way. Appeart from the very odd run i rarely go for more than 100-200 miles. Now this means my tyers arnt up to temp at all on my commute and after 1mile or so under braking i get the rear (front bt10 rear bt20) sliding. So. is there a super fast warmup tyre available? I would have tyre warmers but i dont have a garage :)

yeah......Avon Storms. ;-)

I only go a mile or three to work and back. In the winter they really are the dogs, and at 4.30am or 6ish (shift dependant) early morning frosty bits are available everywhere, so need a tyre thats up for the challenge. They have never let me down.
On dry roads they practically warm up instantly.

Stickiest cold tyre. The super sticky sports tyres are only any good when really warmed up.

Just thought i'd point that out, cos if you go into a shop and ask for really sticky tyres, they'll give you sporty ones.

Beast away from the lights will help.

Progressive hard braking will help the front.

I always used BT010/020Rear until Avon brought out Azaros/Storms. Never looked back. Maybe just a change of tyres will help get your confidence back up.

I'm a 9 mile each way , all 30's *cough* and I swapped back from super sticky Avon Vipers (a cheap treat last summer) to Storms and the difference is night and day. Stickies take longer to warm up, (if at all in bad weather). Just show up the budget sussies too!

Forget the back brake too! No need!:)

Run lower pressures.. say from 36/42 to 32-36 as lower pressures will make the tyres wake up faster...it'll also give you more grip and if you're commuting it's not like youre getting your knee down..
