Exhaust Front Pipe Removal Help - 2002 Curvy
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone suggest the final removal of the neck of the front end pipe, as whatever I try I can't get it to budge. WD40 seems to have no penetration on the pipe, and as you can see I've taken a chisel to it in order to try and get some leverage to try and tap it around.
That last little bit just won't budge, and unfortunately I had to cut is down to try and get any leverage on it, as the crash seemed to have imploded the pipe on itself. :( |
Re: Exhaust Front Pipe Removal Help - 2002 Curvy
Get a heat gun and some ice. Warm the cylinder head for a while then cool the pipe. Add penetrant. Try the same with some "loctite freeze and release" spray. Keep heating and cooling it and adding oil. Drill a 5mm hole through and get a screwdriver through it, to try and twist it.
Keep worrying at it, and it will move. |

If this fails then start cutting a slot in the side of the pipe.

3-in-1 penetrating oil and a driiling made this stubborn piece of metal free itself, and managed to get a vice grip and pull it out.
cheers yc for advice... |
