The kind man from the GPO has just delivered my annual pay up or we will fine you reminder from the DVLA, the problem being my MOT runs out next week, so I either need to ask my bro to take the bike for its MOT or I SORN it until I am fit to do the deed.


my bikes generally have had full MOT records, I get them done well in advance but this time there is going to be a hole.

Question, assuming in 6 weeks I can ride, would I need to do anything to unSORN the bike or do I simply ride it up to the nice man who gives me a piece of paper, wait till the end of the month and tax it.


Damm I miss the days when I used to get my MOTs over the phone

once you tax it the SORN is removed from the record

you can ride it to a pre-booked MOT inspection without tax or MOT cert but you will need insurance, TPO as a minimum

Yep thats what happened with me.... i SORN`d it online (MOT had run out). Once bike had been MOT`d I taxed it online. Simple as that

Yep, as Speedy has said, if you have all the documents, you can SORN it online in five mins and then tax it online after you've had it MOT'd.....no need to go visit anyone.

Oh and +1 on riding to the MOT centre. Just make sure you have insurance and you're booked in and it's not a problem.
