jumping out of gear
in the last 2 days ive been having a "spirited" ride into work. on 2 occasions going from first to second at about 9k its jumped out of gear into neutural. however no light just no gears.
im thinking the chain is on the top limit (slackest) would this cause it? its fine otherwise...... however i also had a thing the other day when i stopped it with the side stand. when i restarted it it stuggled like it had hit hydraulic lock in the cylinder. it didnt fire but when i tried again all was fine, and its been fine today. again any thoughts? |
Re: jumping out of gear
Mine on used to do this when I wasnt very positive with the lever. Usually when I was concentrating on some spirited riding.
Maybe stopping it with the side stand causes it to flood with fuel. Although this wouldnt lock the engine it might have stopped the plugs firing to help it turn over the first couple of times. |

Re: jumping out of gear
Mine used to do this between 5/6th gears on the motorway...
Today it just wouldn't select any gears at all... I'd have someone look at it so that you possibly don't end up like me and completely screw*d on the side of the road... |
Re: jumping out of gear
Check the oil, check the lever pivot is OK. Make sure you are putting it all the way into gear.

Re: jumping out of gear
What do you mean wouldn't select any? Wouldn't go into first at a standstill?

Re: jumping out of gear
Mines popped out of 6/5 on the motorway in the past, the revs just suddenly go through the roof. Never had any problems though really, although not really sure how it finds these false neutrals
