Tank Raisers & De-snorkel: Pointy

Just fitted some tank raisers and pulled off the snorkel. Is it just me or is it a tad loud! Wasn't expecting that!

The tank raisers make it look a bit funny too, they're a bit too high. I've put it back to stock now but left the snorkel off, have heard this causes issues with a curvy but what about a pointy?

I did this and found it was louder than my unbaffled Scorpion Street Extreme , there`s induction and there`s induction but this was tiresome . I noticed no difference to performance of the bike and took the spacers out and put the snorkel back in . The Snorkel is there to stop stuff like small leaves and children getting sucked directly into the airbox and blocking the filter . Worthless mod in my eyes so I sold my Spacers on ...... they also spoiled the lines of the bike as well .

Yeh not my cup of tea either Badger. I've asked to send them back to him.

Did you get them from Chewy ?
Ask for a credit against some mirror spacers , they are the handiest thing he sells by far on there :)

Sure did, I've got the mirror spacers, agreed they're handy!

Might get the crash bungs, are they any good?

They would be of more use than the Spacers for sure . Thing is they look a bit short to me and I am not sure they would stop your radiator getting dinged in an off . What about getting his Stainless Bolt kit and throwing a bit extra at it ?

i took the snorkel out of mine as i was told my bike was mega rich and yeah it sounded meatier once it was out but wow i went from 110 miles until my fuel light came on to 85-90 so whacked it back it

*sigh* here we go again.

The short version (for this has been covered once or twice before):
99-02 SV has the air intake hole in the top of the air box. With a very free flowing filter such as BMC Race RS, the height of the tank could potentially be restrictive to airflow, so the tank raisers may help.

03+ SV & SVS 650's have the air intake at the front of the air box, the snorkle is fitted to reduce noise, smooth airflow into the airbox and make sure water doesn't get in. Raising the tank serves only to let you hear the induction noise and serves no preformance purpose at all. Using an SV1000 Snorkle is a common mod for making the airbox louder though.

Don't bother getting the Chewy's crash bungs. In the event of an off (even low speed), the banana bracket they are mounted to will snap and rip through your fairing anyway.
