Fuel consumption comparison 650 v 1000
Me and Diane made best use of the weather today and yesterday clocking up 630 miles visiting Aberystwyth and Scarborough. Now I know this isn't very scientific but we made notes just to see.
We first stopped at 170 miles and neither of us had the reserve light on. I needed 12.01L and Diane needed 11.01L. Next stop was at 200 miles. My reserve came on at 160 miles and Diane's at 180 miles. I needed 15.31L and Diane needed 13.74L. Next stop was at 120 miles. I needed 8.17L and Diane needed 7.00L. Not filled the bikes back up so the final numbers are missing. It looks like I was getting 65MPG and Diane was getting 70MPG. My 1000 is a K3 fully faired with 56K and Dianes 650 is a K4 naked with 13K. I know there are differences in riding styles to take into account (I'm god-like and Diane is a bit Turkish) but I really was expecting a bigger gap than 5MPG |

F##kinell.
Was out with carnivore the other day, he's got a cagiva V-rap thou which is like the SVthou motor before it was de-boll0cked. 60 miles, I needed 7l he needed 8l. |
Re: Fuel consumption comparison 650 v 1000
What was the weather like, as in wind conditions etc?
I put a tenner in last night, the tank was bone dry and have done 101 miles and the fuel light has just came on, but that has been a bit of welly today, has been fairly windy too (K4 naked 33bhp). When I got it last week, I drained the bike as much as I could then put £5.00 and got 86miles, reserve came on at about 60 - 70 from a fairly empty tank. |

It's a more meaningful comparison to go from brimmed full to brimmed full.

I wouldn't say it was full pace. Carnivore still getting used to suspension that works and has made changes to geometry. And I was hung over.

Re: Fuel consumption comparison 650 v 1000
when i used to ride my thou with cuz on his 650 i found we could get exactly the same kind of milage if we rode smoothly and slowish, however if we rode hard my thou would drink fuel like no tomorrow! worst ive seen was 80 - 90ish miles to reserve light.

Re: Fuel consumption comparison 650 v 1000
When I ride with with people on SV650's I find i get about half the mileage they do :(
I did get 120 miles to the tank before need to fill up today but that was 95% in the wet so being smoother than usual. |
Re: Fuel consumption comparison 650 v 1000
How many liters to fill up after 120 mile?
How many normally? That is on 600RR right? I dread to think what the 750 will do when I get that on the road... So I won't! |
Re: Fuel consumption comparison 650 v 1000
Were they motorway miles?
Best I got out of mine was 140 to the light (then fill up 15L) on twiesties. Haven't tried it out yet in m'way (not a complaint ;)) Never got more than 165 miles to the light on the sv. |
