3 day passout - where to go?

Managed to persuade the wife that as a final swansong before selling the SV, me buggering off on the bike for a few days would be a good idea. Reckon i could get away with 2 nights/3 days but haven't a clue where to go.

Definitely out of the country and into Europe - dont fancy Scotland/Ireland or owt as been many times. Given the short timescale can anyone recommend a good destination - nothing tricky as i'll be on my own and never taken the bike out of the country before.

I'm from Cheshire and really wanted to avoid the trip to Dover if possible and maximise the time in Euroland but looking at crossing times from other ports i guess Dover is the only option???

You could always get the overnight ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge? If you got this ferry the night before your first full day to yourself you are maximizing your time!

You're selling up & you expect help from us ?
As chasey says, Hull / Zeebugga & then head south. Ardennes, Alps Appenines & cross to Sicily ( with a play at Nurburgring on the way )
That should be about 3 days & 2 nights.
Return trip? What return trip - you've had your fun, now face the music

Had the SV a fair while and its time to hop onto something else for this long hot summer they are forecasting (yeah right!!). What that next something will be - I haven't a clue yet! Change my mind with every bike mag I buy. Shortlist is currently GSX-R 750/Speed Triple/Street Triple R.

Hull - Zeebrugge: yes, ta, that puts me in the sort of place I want to be plus i've always wanted to see Bruges so that works for me. Think i'll try for Switzerland and back.

Ahh, got the impression you were packing in bikes for good. I've never ridden an SV, but you'll like the 750 I'm sure!

If i was heading for Switzerland on a solo mission , I would do a loop of the 3 passes. Susten/Furka/Grimsel. Inbetween Interlaken and Andermatt.

Mind blowing roads and scenery.

(Although Scotland is going to have a scorcher this weekend;))

The only problem with that is getting there in time. IIRC they sail at 18:00 so that means leaving Cheshire by about 2 to get there. If the OP can get the half day 'extra' over his pass out then it's all good.

If landing in Belgium, go to Bruges as you said then head into the Ardennes and Vosges, then head into Switzerland. Bomb around the passes for a day before heading out of Switzerland on the excellent N5 (Nyon on Lake Geneva to Poligny) then pick up the motorway to head up for the overnight ferry. You might squeeze an extra day out of it that way?
