Which version is the K9 for after market parts?

Sorry if the title isn't clear but I am picking up my K9 2009 sport at the weekend and have been looking at a few of the recommended 'extras' from you guys and am struggling to know which version bike I have?

As an example the R&G crash bungs seem to have the latest SV model as either 2007 SV650S or SV650 fully faired 2007 and TBH I have no idea which one is the match with the K9 Sport? This also is true of the Triboseat and a few other parts I have been looking at?

Any help would be much appreciated as don't want to order the wrong part?

These look like they are OK for the K9 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/suzuki-sv650-s...3A1%7C294%3A50 but no brand/manufacturer info so not sure if to buy them?

Hi Nictry - welcome to the org.

Firstly I understand the sport model (K8 and K9) are fully faired. Thus you need the latest version R&G's for a fully faired SV. Your model (if faired, which I'm fairly confident it is) is SV650S K9 and I believe all pointy parts post K5 will fit. Try and avoid K3 accessories as the pointy model that year had some changes. (General statement, not true for all cases).

The Tibroseat is a std thing. I put the one from my old Bandit 600 on the pillion seat of my pointy and didn't have an issue. I'd say buy one for the year closest to your K9 and you'll be fine.

Avoid the bungs in your link and if you can, fork out for decent protection.

Also, if in doubt, call the manufacturers up and ask 'em. You then have the info and can shop around.

Thanks for the info, yes mine is a fully faired model but nice to know that it should be compatible with the K7-8 fully faired parts.

I had discounted those in the ebay link as they are literally held on by one bolt so other than a drop I would imagine they would just snap off instantly in an actual crash (which hopefully will not happen :( )

Thanks again and have found the forum a great resource already (before even picking up the bike :D )

Well at this point just ones that will keep the bike looking good ie the tank pad, the crash bungs and possibly the bar ends although not sure what they will look like on the drop bars also looking for a fender extender but no idea which one to get as really don't want to start sticking screws through the existing guard?
, possibly this one http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products?...latest&sd=DESC or this one (which seems to look nicer) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Carbon-Fenda-E...3A1%7C294%3A50
I used to ride mainly 2 stroke screamers in my younger days, RD350, RG500 and a fireblade for a while and used to change the pipes, add bits etc. but as I am now old (well officially its middle age!) I will probably leave the bike fairly standard, at least until I decide to get the GSX750R in a year or two (providing the OH doesn't veto that idea :smt120 )

I'm having similar issues with the rear hugger. Although i'm told the K6 version plus should work fine theres a problem with the colour. It seems the new K9's have a slightly (lighter imho) blue than the older models and the hugger i was looking at didnt come in black.

Its even more confusing if you dont go for an official suzuki hugger as I found out while looking at 3rd party ones on mandp.co.uk.

About the only "mod" i'm getting atm is a tank pad , I like the OP dont wanna drill in my front guard to fit a fenda extenda :(.

One thing is there a particular style of bobbin I'll need for using a paddock stand on the K9?

If you don't fit a fenda extenda you can expect misfiring in the wet... so just drill the holes and it'll be fine.. seriously. :p

I was told i could protect them via another method i'll need to dig out that thread tho :P.

Other thing that annoys me about em is again the colourmatch issue and imho black would look daft attached to the black end of a blue one.

I have a black one and it doesn't look daft.. especially with the black fairing lowers...

You can put silicone around the spark plug thing but it still won't protect the downpipe and front cylinder from all the crud..

Re: Which version is the K9 for after market parts?

Crud can be cleaned off :P hoping the ACF50 will help with that.

Still your persistence is noted, have you got a close up of your bikes front end so I can see how it looks :).
