Arn't topboxes brilliant!

I love my topbox. I always hated them but this bike came with one, so I thought I would give it a try. I wouldn't go about my business without one now. Pop the shopping in, pair of shoes for work, spot something you fancy while out and about. No problem at all. Beats messing with trying to fit a a 4-pack and a baguette under the little net thing. Fantastic. Don't knock it till you've tried it :D |
Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
Smashing! Got a 48 litre one on my SV, as I've said before I have a back complaint so a rucksack or tankbag are uncomfortable for me.
The only problem with having a top box is that Mrs Swin leaves me even bigger shopping lists! |
Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
I have a 48ltr Kappa box for my bike. I bought the rack and box from a fellow orger and finally got round to fitting the rack a few months ago.
I have to admit that I still haven't been out on the bike with the box on, but will do soon. (musn't let my wife read this thread or she will be sending me shopping on my bike) ;) |
Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
Top box is so handy for holding helmet/gloves while doing a quick shopping trip. Motorcycle parking often free (if you know where) so its great for picking up two boxes of catfood, bottle milk and other bits forgotten in usual weekend shop.

Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
And so my plan for the world to be overcome with topbox madness moves up a few thousand RPM.
Mwahahahahahahaa Go forth and multiply, my topbox minions |
Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
Heh I love my Top box! it currently smells a little as it holds a 5 litre jerry can of unleaded but I wouldn't be without it all the same.
Paniers however I'm still not sure about =p |
Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
I had one of those jelly pine thingies in a plastic bag in my Bandit's top box a few years back, stopped it getting that musty smell. :D
Trouble was, the gel stuff dried out into a green powdery substance which escaped through the little ventilation holes of the placcy bag and covered the bottom of the box completely - smelt bloody lovely though :) I use a stick-up air freshener stuck to the underside of the lid now! |

What can I say? I like my helmet to smell nice when it's been stored in there all day :)

Re: Arn't topboxes brilliant!
I use my topbox for work, extra layers when out riding, water, bananas, lots of typical bike things (incl spare set of gloves which I lent to someone on the Poker Run in east sussex on sat as he only had his wintergloves being new). I had a big plastic bag in there with my overnight camping stuff and my fleecy camping pillow. Why I carried my waterproofs on a hot day I honestly don't know but there was space and they are just always in there. Love it my topbox but it did disturb the view of the nice LED lights a bit so I have a tail tidy now and you can see them a bit better. Oh and the red bits on the black box are colour co-ordinated with my red seat on the black bike!
And my tools are in there too because anyone who can stick them back in the little space where they should sit underneath the seat deserves a medal. |
