MOT failed "loose swing arm"!
Just got the call form my MOT place to say my bike has failed because the swing arm is loose  !!!!!!
Going down to get it just now, i take it i'll be mostly replacing all the bearings in the swing arm and suspension linkage this weekend then? Any tips would be appreciated as i've never done this before although i have changed the shock. |
Re: MOT failed "loose swing arm"!!!

Re: MOT failed "loose swing arm"!!!
Whats the special tool, i'm gonna order bearings when i'm at the garage as i can't find some of them on simply bearings.
Whats a good grease? |
Re: MOT failed "loose swing arm"!!!
Bibio would i get away with using a 25x32x35 bearing instead of the 25x33x35 suzuki use?

Re: MOT failed "loose swing arm"!!!
yup... simply dont list them.. could always give them a phone... they are a weird size..
another thing you could try is just packing them with grease... how many miles has the bike done? |
Re: MOT failed "loose swing arm"!!!
Don't use the smaller bearing it needs to be right size. For castellated nut just take a grinder/dremel to a normal socket.

Re: MOT failed "loose swing arm"!!!
Got the fail sheet and its no where near as bad as the lady on the phone made out!!! The "rear suspension bearing has slight free play" !!
So i cann worry about that after its MOT'd. The fails were - "nearside headlamp aim too high" easy peasy and "exhaust noise is clearly in excess of that emitted by a similar motor bicycle fitted with a standard silencer in average condition" steel wool anyone? So thats a relief but i'll do the swingarm & suspension bearings anyway once i can source bearings. |
