SV1000 clutch master cylinder

My clutch has started going a bit stiff and squeaking. It's an SV1000 so no nasty cables to lubricate but a highly expensive master cylinder instead.

I took the lever off, cleaned and lubricated the pivot bolt and noticed that the rubber boot that the lever presses onto seems to have split in two. Basically a cap and a sleeve. I assume this should be in one piece to prevent filth getting into the inner workings.

Liberally coated anything I could find in oil and it got better for a while but after doing about 500 VERY wet miles in Wales last weekend it's squeaking again and is starting to get a bit stiff.

I've never really worked with hydraulic systems before there's no Haynes manual for it and the PDF I found seems to compeltely disreagrd the fact that the bike even has a gearbox let alone a clutch.

So question is what can I do easily.
If that does not fix it what do I do next.
I've found master cylinder service kits on ebay for abotu £20. How hard is it to do.
Anyone got a link to some master cylinder diagrams/instructions/tips?

thanks in advance,
Mark

I wouldn't imagine it'd be any harder than doing a brake master cylinder? Not that I've ever done one! Just a case of the seals and the like?

not for your bike but may help.

Does anyone know if this is usually fixed with a service kit or should I start searching ebay for a new master cylinder?

Mine split on the 03 thou a few years ago. Rubber boot was not available on it's own so a complete service kit was obtained. You get a new piston and seal as well as the rubber boot. About £30 from memory, genuine Suzuki parts.
