Tyre pressures.
I am asking this as I do not have a manual or anything as I got the bike as a gift. what tire preassures should I be using. I have heard 36F 42R but that sounds a little high to me. mabey its because have only been riding a year or so and had a car for 3 years

Re: Tire preasures
What bike do you have - curvy MK1 99-02 or a pointy MkII 03 on? Pressures are different for each.

Re: Tire preasures
33/36 according to the SV manual I downloaded off the net (scanned in)

Re: Tire preasures
Sorry I forgot to post about my bike. I have a 2006 Suzuki Sv650

Re: Tire preasures
Then 33/36 is the standard pressure for your bike.

33F 36R. The SV1000 would have been different, probably more like 36/42. Different manufacturers may well recommend different pressures too, worth checking their webite or giving a call, or just playing about yourself. As long as you stick somewhere between 33F 36R, and 36F 42R you'll be perfectly safe, you may just find the ride gets a little choppy at the higher end of those pressures. Jambo |
Re: Tire preasures
Rule of thumb I use is, as general, STANDARD for 120/70, 180/55 or 190/50 (or whatever) is 36/42. Definatly so for tourers or more upright bikes.
For sports bikes I use 36 39, on the SV (smaller tyres, lighter machine, less power, etc) I use 32 and 37, for some reason I like that, but as you can tell not much pressure difference compared to 33/36, so stick with that. :D |
