Optimum battery and tyres..

Hey guys,

My battery has finally died a painful death.. completely. Plus tyres are in need of a change..

I've had such a rubbish couple of days and really haven't got the time to do researching otherwise I wouldn't bother you all with this, but I was wondering if I could grab some advice on SV battery's and tyres.
Looking for fairly good quality (im not a timid rider but then again am no Rossi) but at a reasonable price. Same goes for battery.

Bike is an '04 pointy faired, 40k.. thanks!

Any help would be appreciated.

Battery - recommend the Yuasa YTZ range, loads of cranking current available. I get mine from the local Honda dealer, but try dropping Batteryman a line at MDS, he was doing good deals on equivalents for org members.

Tyres are very subjective. Personally I run Avon Storms on my SV and absolutely love them. Heat up quick and grip well in both the wet and dry.
Worth trying IMHO. What did you have on there before?

What do you do with the SV?

The storms are ace all rounders, but if you do a lot of trackdays then maybe something stickier like the viper sports or some race scrubs. You can get a decent shift on with the storms, and they've got enough wet grip to drag the footpegs.

Embee is spot on about the battery.

Its mostly blasting around country lanes and A-roads.. haven't done any track work (yet :P ) and a fair bit of motorway driving to and from London from Exeter.

Well the storms or another of the sport tourers probably best for you, pure sports tyres will be squared off in no time on motorway.
