Dual compound slicks

Mmm, interesting that they appear to be running with dual compound slick tyres in this weekends MotoGP at Valencia.

Harder on the right than on the left.

Multi compound slicks have been around for a while, I use the Dunlop GP Racer slick which is basically a D209 road tyre without tread, complete with the hard in the middle, soft at the edges compound. Being based on a road tyre it also warms up well and more importantly puts up with all the heat cycles you get from track days.

The interesting thing is not that they're dual compound but that the left and right are different rather than the centre and the sides.
