What sort of juice do heated grips pull?
Just got some heated grips and they don't specify how much juice they pull (oem, not for my bike).
Roughly how many amps will they pull on the hottest setting? |
Re: What sort of juice do heated grips pull?
Have you measured what your bikes charging at, at the moment? Sorry if this stating the obvious just some bikes charge worse than others so probably worth knowing before you have a figure for the hot grips.

Re: What sort of juice do heated grips pull?
Interesting question. I fitted my secondhand Daytona grips recently, through an ignition-linked relay (I think one of the headlight circuits in the end). Turned them on to 'start' and they heat up nicely, then flick it to 'on' and.... *pop* goes the 30A fuse in the relay. Hmm... annoying.
I can't remember now, whether I had the engine running at the time. I guess the loading on the battery may affect it without the extra current. Either way, it did confuse me that it would take over 30A! :o |
