69 mpg....wow didn't know it would be that good!

Did my second fill up today after clocking up 350 miles since new and just did the maths and am getting 69.2 mpg out of my SV650!!!! I didn't expect it to be anywhere near that economical even though I am keeping the revs under 6-7k (can't keep under 5k its just impossible )

Am i right to be impressed or is this about normal for a SV650?!??

Not really SV related, but the TT commentators said McGuinness was getting 17-18mpg on his blade doing 130mph average speed laps. Not sure if that accurate though, but amazed me :)

Yep, filled up, then ran 159 miles before flashing yellow, just filled up again and took £10.57 which is about 10.4 litres (2.3 gallons) 159/2.3 is 69.13mpg :D

I have done nigh on exactly the same mpg on my sv650, it was boring but I certainly managed it.

I did pretty much 70mph the whole way up the A1 to croft and back.

Yep similar I have a 70-80mph run for 14 miles each way to work with a few miles extra on A roads so not exactly the most exciting ride but TBH half the reason I wanted a bike again was to save a few quid on petrol so am well chuffed with the results so far!

Having said the above can't wait to give it a little more oomph as keeping those revs around 5k is slowly become more frustrating

Yeah, I got close to 70mpg on a run from manchester to Oxford. Managed to get it down to about 38mpg when thrashing her though ;-)

You know, if you twist the thing on the right clip-on a little more - the revs will soon go above 5k!

well people i intend to do a proper test on this
i am going to fill the tank and hit the twisties with a spare can on the back then hit a fuel stop refill and run on the motorway on way back till it cuts out again
