Abnormal engine noise?
Hello, first I will give link to the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=PL&hl=pl&v=EVSDYzn4Szc , this is my friend movie. And the question, this is normal sound of sv engine?? I've got the same noise in my sv, I change both chain tensioner and camshaft chain but it doesn't help. Any ideas ?? Sorry for my english ;)

Re: Another technical question
Do you mean the "Tick-tick-tick" noise?
I would say as it's quite a slow noise compared to engine noise at idle, that it is Cam/Timing gear noise. Camshafts rotate at half the speed of the crankshaft. Therefore a slower noise. Difficult though due to sound quality on video. Dave |
Re: Another technical question
is there the correct amount of oil?
could be a shim needing done.. |
Re: Another technical question
That doesn't sound normal no. Check valve clearances, also for loose clutch center nut and daft stuff like that.

Re: Another technical question
Doesn't sound healthy.. check...
Valve clearances chamchain tensioner and stuff (most likely with that machine gun rattle) oil level etc.. |
Re: Another technical question
Tooday I've warm up the engine and pull down the oil, 3L :o Should be 2,3, I ratted it back like in the service book said. Tomorow I will phone to yamaha, and give them sv to vavle clearance :) O I will forget, I made a movie form my engine working and the click, click, click noise make me anger

Re: Another technical question
Oil window was full, now oil is between H and L :)

Re: Another technical question
remember to check oil when the bike is upright (sorry if that sounds patronising, but some people havn't done it this way and easily overfilled!)
