Do I change my tyres now or after a trip to France?

trip to France.
Hmmm - in 2 weeks time going to France for a week.
checking bike over and the tread appears to be around 4mm front (loads?) and 2.5 -4mm rear (diablo strada so no tread in centre makes it difficult to judge?)

of course all depends on distance planned of which unsure at the moment.
Surely these are good for 2k though? Think they been on for about 8k but seems a waste to get more already.....

Opinions please!

thanks

You could always leave them on and replace them in France if necessary. They sell tyres over there too :-)

yeah that was my thoughts - although a bit of hassle.

DarrenSV650S - yep reckon must be about 8k but don't look to bad. the diablo strada's seem to last well.

deux nouveaux pneus s'il vous plaît

Seriously though, its not as difficult as you might imagine. Very friendly place as long as you arent in a trawler.

I always find it strange when others say they only get ~4-5k from a tyre max.....
To be fair maybe i just ride like an old git!!!:D Seriously though although I don't go everywhere mega fast, I don't go that slow either.

Well that is an impressive mileage.
But I would still change it. When I went to france I put a new tyre one. Then when I got back I ran it until it was dead, then put the part worn one back on

yep if only i could change tyres myself that would be an option.
just been looking at reviews for the strada that i have got and apparently when new it has a 8mm deep tread which is larger than a lot of others? maybe this is the reason they last me so well.

starting to think about going for new ones now - if we end up in the alps or something then if nothing else it will be a psychological thing?
Damn - more expense!

Just go to you regular tyre place and tell them what you're planning. As long as you tell them that you will be getting your next tyre from them, they will probably do it for free. That's what I did
