Got stopped by the plod today.

Only to be asked to do a stupid survey :hackedoff: :smt013

Was just about to leave the Chiswick rounadabout to join the A4 when I noticed the "Slow - census" sign.. Was about to ignore it as I love reving the bike out of the roundabout at a nice lean but with a corner of my eye caught a "smurf" 40 yards ahead and thought it would be better not to run him over ;)
Was directed to the layby and some silly, bored git in funny glasses and HiViz aked me questions about where and from I was going, the reason and whether I was planning to come back the same way. After that the plod were kind enough to stop the trafic to let me rejoin the A4.. just to find all the cars I had skilfully overtaken on the north circular ahead of me again :smt011

Waste of time to be honest. If my sixth sense (must have rubbed on me from talking to Zig) hadn't made me leave early I would have been late for work... At least my (un)baffled exhaust must have got a seai of approval as they did not say anything about it....

Anyone else had to do something similar, or are they only targetting 2-wheeled aliens? ;)

Somewhere in Milton Keynes I managed not to get stopped for a census thing the bike I was ahead of got stopped though. Just as well, i did the journey in record time :p

Yeah I seen loads of those of late, I was gonna be stopped by one I just said I would have been late for work, then turned around and carried on.

Sorry wait, why where you stopped again? Do you have to say you're going to work now, or was it because you came off the roundabout like an Alien?

I've passed a few of them before now, either they felt the unfriendly aura i was exuding at them or they were going for 4 wheelers at the time.

Did get stopped by one years ago in a car and they said i couldm't leve as it would be an offence. I was late for work too bt it was a long long time ago now,so bygones.

Its only road traffic cencus i believe.

TBH the guy doing the questioning seemed to have no idea why he was asking what he was asking and was bored out of this earth..

Did not really see the point of the whole exercise as they are not really going to re-model the chiswick roundabout in any way so can't understand the need to stop people on their way to work.

Forgot to mention I managed to get cut up by a guy in a van within a 100 yards from the census point.. thankfully I braked in time but can you imagine how p***ed off I'd be if I had an off as a result...

It once took me 2 hours to get into leicester because of a census, it would normally take me 30 minutes to do the same distance.
