Arson Attack Aftermath – graphic images!

After a lovely Soho meet, I got home to park up my SV, locked, covered, tucked in for the night.

24hrs later, I was welcomed by this scene of devastation.

According to the guy who lives directly in front of the bay, he woke up to sound of a explosion at 1 in the morning, he went down stairs to check what happened, only then, just before opening the front door that he noticed flames through the top window and smoke slipping pass the post box. A scooter was on fire.

The scooter was set on fire, exploded and crack glass in some windows, minutes later the next bike went up in a fireball too, the silver scooter’s RHS was badly damage, most plastic was melted like cheese. The fire brigade and police was there in minutes.

My SV survived the flames thanks to the facts that my usual parking spot was taken up by another bike, that the silver scooter helped taking the energy of the flames and finally the SV was covered, which possibly helped deflecting the heat, hot ash, shrapnel and water damage, buying enough time for the fire brigade to arrive. So always cover your bike!!!

Even though parts of the cover has melted, it didn’t stick to the panels, the paint work seems fine and I haven’t found any heat damage to the SV, yet.

Here are some photos:

Yeah it's a hornet, it has that silly radiator water pipe made from a welded up slinky.

Twas the exhaust that got it for me!

I can't believe anyone would bother going to the trouble if they couldn't nick it...maybe just "kids" playing around rather than getting annoyed at not being able to steal it...some nasty damage there though :?
