my faith in humanity is restored
gather round as i tell you my incredible long tale of surviving the wilderness!!
been away for a few days, got back this evening and felt like taking the bike for a spin. Left home everything fantastic, quick blast down teh motorway and into the new forest........ lovely wasnt to cold with the wind in my face :riding: As im going past norley woods heading for Lymington my clocks start spazzing out so i pull over to flick the ignition off, flick on........... buzz..... battery is dead and wont even turn over....... so 8:15pm'ish i am broken down >>here<< after looking at it and tutting, i decide to ring the old man to come to give me a jump, reach for phone and............. my infamous "I-FONE" has no signal :-| BUGGER!!! after more tutting i came up with 2 answers...... try and bump the sv (lol you'll try anything when you stranded) or do a roughly 5 mile trek into Lymington to knock someone's door...... i chose to bump.......... which resulted in a massive PHAIL!! and me putting my back out and rolling about in agony on the heath  after a 5 min rest i decide to walk a few miles up the road towards the old airfield as i know i can get a signal there, on the way i attempt to call recovery and after the 5th time of getting through and losing signal i out of credit and in a torrent of F'ing and blinding and stomped back to the bike with the recovery services name being shouted to the heavens for not ringing me back even though i had told them who i was before losing signal :smt070 get back to the bike and ponder what to do, decided to trek into Lymington but as i was setting off a lady on bike come over the hill and pulled over. She lent me her phone, got through to recovery and arranged for pick up, she gave me a can of coke and had a natter (im now going to her birthday party) then about 20 or so bikes come up the road and all pull over so there was a little bike meet by the side of the road. after making sure im fine, getting load of peoples phone numbers and having made loads of new biker friends lol, they all disperse and im left sat there by myself with a 2 hour wait for recovery. 10pm, light is virtually gone and there's funny noises coming from the heathland and woods :pale:....... 10:27pm recovery arrive :smt038 me being me i insisted on a jump and not full blown recovery, so after taking all the seat and crap off i get a jump jump and a going over of the electrics it looks like i have a dodgy alternator or lead coming off of it but will have a proper look tomorrow (its giving a weak charge when running but as soon as loaded the voltage drops and it only charges occasionally) exciting ride back through the forest with no high beam, got home about 20 mins ago........ i am just a natural born survivor, bear grylls and ray mears got nothing on me  |
