Ritalin - Brain Boosting Drugs (Supposedly)
I've been reading (yes I can read) about "Ritalin" these so called brain boosting drugs recently in the national press and subsequently on line. I'm intrigued.
They are said to improve concentration, alertness and energy. They are prescription only so not available over the counter. Before we start I am not advocating the use of these or any other drugs, just interested to hear whether anyone has taken them and what their experience was. What are peoples views? |

I think it was South Park that had an episode on Ritalin. You know South Park have all the answers to everything in life.

I have only encountered Ritalin when it has been prescribed for ADH in children.... I admit I haven`t read anything regarding its "brain boosting" properties but adults are (apparantly) 60 times more likely to suffer side effects than children. Some of the side effects include......
Insomnia Dermatitis Anorexia Palpitations Nausea Dizziness Blood Pressure abnormalities Drowsiness Angina Cardia Arrhythmia Abdominal Pain Tachycardia (rapid pulse) Nervousness/anxiety More rarely.... Toxic Psychosis Tourettes Syndrome Not a drug I think I`d actually be wanting to take, far better to stick with the omega 3 for increasing brain power in my opinion |

Well, if america cartoons are anything to go by, ritalin makes you loose your personality and become a robot

I've seen all of that Claire. That information is prevalent all over the internet. What I was looking for was personal experience or experience of a close friend. |

Oh right sorry Scoobs... in that case the only experience I have had of Ritalin was when it was prx for 2 of my friends sons. In both cases it was extremely effective once the right dose was found.
Not come across any adults taking it tho |
