Poor running when hot, backfiring.
Hi there.
I own a curvy sv650 and am suffering some problems with it and cant seem to find the problem. When the bike has warmed up and i start to open it up the revs judder and jerk alot, the bike backfires and the rev counter flicks about all over the place. I've consulted all my local bike mechanics (in Hull) and have tried a few things to rectify this problem with no luck. I have: Check all the wiring, checked the carbs, checked the ECU, replaced the pulse generator & crank sensor and regulator rectifior and i have replaced both coils too. Has anyone suffered any similar problems or have any idea what the cause of this issue could be? I would be very grateful if anyone has some suggestions that might help as this problem has been present for a while now and im starting to run out of patience & money  TIA Ian. |

Re: please help me my sv is killing me
Have you taken out the choke plungers where the cables enter the carbs? These stick, causing a rich mixture which makes it run like a pig when hot.

Re: please help me my sv is killing me
I had a similar problem on my curvy. I had a loose connection from the earth. One of the connector pins was bent and only intermittently produced a complete electrical circuit.
This caused the bike, every now and again, to backfire, have the rev counter go mental even though at a steady throttle. The lights also flickered and the dash went crazy. Try checking the electrics and looking for bent connectors. Spray them with water repellent. |
