Insurance req's, one for the resident plod?
Bluepete et all, if you leave a car on the road, don't use it, does it have to be insured? A mate has a car for his daughter, taxed and tested, but as she doesn't drive yet, currently uninsured. It's kept on a side road near their house and the idiot next door has hit it but not owned up to it.
Before they start anything they wanted to see where they stand. Cheers Ste |

AFIK it still requires to be insured.

If it's on the public highway then it requires a minimum of 3rd party insurance, as well as being taxed and MOT'd.
If it's on private land (i.e. driveway) then you don't need any of the above. |

A vehicle must be insured (3rd party minimun) to be on the road. It do not matter if its parked or being driven.

Like they have all stated above, yes, any vehicle parked on a road needs to have in force a third party insurance policy.

Cheers, wasn't too sure, the DVLA says it should be insured to use on the road, but we weren't sure if the definintion of use was.
