Coolant question
Hi, I checked my coolant levels and could see nothing through the glas. I had a small water leak a little while back so assumed it must have run low. Off to Halfords, bought coolant and distilled water, started topping up and the damn thing overflowed very quickly. I was obviously pouring too fast assuming it was very low:smt013
It came ****ing out of the overflow hose, down by where you top the oil up. The question is, will the overflow get rid of enough that it is safe to use the bike. Or should I look at draining it. If draining it is the way to go, what's the best way. And one more question while I'm at it. What's the cap on top of rad with "do not remove when hot" on it. I had assumed that this was where I should fill up the coolant, lucky I checked the manual first though and found the correct place was actually under the tank. Cheers. |
Re: Coolant question
Whip the "do not remove when hot" cap off (the radiator cap), this should be full right to the top, if not stick some distilled water in.
Then, pull off the small hose behind this, drop any excess out of the expansion tank (the thing down the side of the bike you need the tank off to access.) Broadly, so long as the radiator is full, and there is something in the expansion tank, it will be fine. |
