A Lucky Find

You may remember this thread, a little while ago.

Well, I’ll add some flesh to the bones of those questions.

I had some random rubbish kicking around so took it to the local recycling centre. As I was heaving a old Nova diff, a wok and some C20LET cams into the metal skip someone else chucked in arm fulls of shiny stainless bits in. They caught my eye because they were shiny, and they had GSXR cut into them.

I asked what they were and was told that they found them in the shed when they moved in, and the previous occupant must have been into ‘DIY’. They were vague and clearly didn’t have a clue.

So I scooped up as much as I could be bothered with and headed home, slightly excited. There were loads of GSXR chain guards, exhaust hangers and a couple of pairs of heel plates.

Quickly scoured ebay, nothing similar, but found a standard plastic chain guard listed that looked about right. It was for a SRAD GSXR 600. Luckily a mates got one of those, so popped around his house, tried it on and it fitted perfectly. Snapped a few pics and got ebaying.

Through luck more than judgement I found that the exhaust hangers fitted my (old) SV.

In total there were

10 hangers
50 chain guards
1 pair GSXR heel plates
1 pair Ninja heel plates
1 SV650 radiator guard
Several single heel guards

And I left quite a bit there!

I’ve now sold it all except for 2 of the chain guards, the radiator guard and the odd heel plates.

That was the first time I’d ever been to the metal skip, and probably the 3rd time I’d ever been to the recycling centre. So the moral of the story is, how lucky am I!!!

I also think it was a sign from god, as I bought a GSXR about 2 weeks later!

£850+ profit. That is allowing for ebay and paypal fees, and postage.
