white smoke coming from radiator
 
just drove home in the rain when i got home i left the bike idiling while i opend the garage and when i went back to the bike theres smoke coming from my bikes radiator ? it wasnt dead bad but it definatly isnt just steam.
the bike was at about 96 temp .

its a sv650 k5 06 with 2000 miles . i dont know much about bikes.
im going to leave it to cool down in the mean time can anyone give me some advice .

i have check the fulid and it looks ok to me ... i dont think its ever been changed tho . the guy who i got it off had only put 1000 miles on it and it had been tood in a garage for a full year or so .

im worried ,

Water on the radiator will steam off mate. It happened to me before a few times in similar situtations.

Its fine ;)

really didnt look like steam . it thick-ish smoke . i stoped the bike and removed the radiator guard and it stoped then i stated the bike back up few minutes after it stated again and more when i rev it .

White though right? Not some dodgy blue or...?

Not really sure why reving it might make it worse... perhaps the water vibrating to a hotter part of the radiator and getting steamed. :rolleyes:

dont worry its just burning off 'shipping grease' my bike stank to high heaven the first time it got over 90 degree.

Have you sprayed anything around that area? I went away for a couple of weeks in winter and ACF-50'd the bike (was locked away but just to be sure in case there was standing water) and that burnt off giving off smoke.

well just went out and it was ok lol so pannic over !!

sorry it definatly wasnt water steam though.

think it might of been what bibo said.

I think you will find it was steam, I get it all the time when it rains.
