Front brake sticking.
 

Hi all
I changed my pads all good apart from they are sticking
it very hard to move the wheel just taken them off and put them back and they where loose but as soon as i press the brake stuck

help please

One for you YC how much for you to sort it because i have been told you are the man to do it Please

The pistons are probably sticking a bit in the callipers. Take the pads out again and pump the pistons out. I put a piece of thin wood or metal that just fits in the slot the discs runs through and pump the lever until the pistons touch it (stops you pumping the pistons out completely-brake fluid everywhere!). Clean the pistons with wire wool or a scouring pad (a bit fiddly). Lube the pistons with Castrol red rubber grease or silicon rubber grease and force them back in (use large flat blade screwdriver or similar, but protect the piston faces with something (thick cardboard perhaps). Sometimes repeating the lubricating and forcing back in several times will help. Hopefully this will avoid a full calliper rebuild.

Just get the calipers out. Clean up the bores, clean p the pistons (dont scratch anything!) and replace the dust seals. Use the magic red rubber grease stuff (like ned said). You'll need to get some new brake fluid aswell, as that'll come poouuurrring out.

Your brakes will be brilliant after a rebuild - I had the same problem in january, and a strip and rebuild restored them to their somewhat glory

a local motorcyle shop may be able to get you dust seals, else you can get almost everything you need form www.wemoto.co.uk

Good evening.

Another thing to do while you're there is to make sure the calipers are sliding properly on their pins. Use Rubber lube...Where would we be without it!

For cleanig pistons in situ, I have found nothing better that parcel banding tape. That's the fibrous white stuff you always cut your finger on if you lift a heavy parcel by it :D It can be torn into very thin strips, & with a good silicone lubricant does an excellent job of cleaning the pistons, & being thin can get right round caliper pistons that have little tolerance between them & the caliper body.
Second favourite for this task, is a cable tie.
