Credit Card Fraud

Well, its happened again... :(

Had a phone call from the bank on saturday

Bank Phone Monkey "Do you recognise these transactions?"

Your Humble Narrator "No"

BPM "OK, we will stop them and you won't be charged"

Fast forward to today and the two transactions that were pointed out to me are showing on my card. Cue me feeling slightly irritated (aka bloody fuming) that the bank let them through AFTER informing me that they thought they were fraudulent and AFTER I told them they were fraudulent.

So I call the bank and they will 'look into it'

YHN "You said these wouldn't go through...but here they are"

BPM "We will look into it. What is your contact number?"

YHN "You called me on saturday...surely you have it?"

BPM "I need your contact number"

Bloody incompetent system.

So how is it possible that my card can be used to subscribe to some website or other vis ccbilleau.com????

Had a look at their site and can do nothing without more info than my credit card number.

What about the 'security code' on the back?

My bank rang me the other day because I paid someone with a funny name a small amount to double check the transaction was legit, they then jumped on the opportunity to sell me debit card insurance.

My debit card got cloned couple of months back :(

Bank: Hav you just tried using your card in Australia?

Me: :-s

Luckily for me it was only an attempt so nothing went through, just been paid a couple of days before but luckily i moved my money about and only had about £100 in my account, then had no card for a week :(

Also last week i payed debit card for car insurance (£1212) and got a phone call 5 secs later asking if i had spent it, what a good service! least they checked though!

Good luck with yours hope its no hassle!

Spoke to the company involved...they know everything - name, address, card number, security number, expiry date, inside leg measurement and what I had for breakfast on 12th June. The only thing they had that wasn't mine was the email address.

Needless to say the card is now in quite a few pieces on my desk and the new one will be with me next week - which is a bit of a shame since I am going away for a few days...this afternoon!

Glad your bank is a little more alert than mine. While I was on holiday someone ran up £2k on my debit card. The bank refunded it eventually, but I wasn't too impressed when I got home and the cupboard was bare!

My bank isn't that alert. Another charge from the same place has appeared today. That was charged to my account the day AFTER I called them to tell them there was a problem.

At no point did they suggest I replace my card number - that was my idea. I am now waiting to see if anymore charges arrive on the account.
